Had the week off, got back today to find #3 on my desk. I think it might be a letter opener, Alice themed of course. It's porcelain. Actually, I'm not sure what it is...
But...I broke it :( I was showing someone and it slipped and it fell and it broke. I'll need to krazy glue it.
I want answers!
Any recommendations?? Even though I have a stack to get through, I looooove books so why not spend some time amongst them?
Or just sick period. I've been off for the holidays and sick twice so I really had free time to knit. Well, more time when I wasn't sick but still. I've started on my dad's vest which I'm sure will take me 10 million years as I went and picked the most elaborate pattern I could find.
Here's where I'm at...
I also have no idea what I'm going to do with this yarn:
It's so pretty and delicious yet I'm stuck as to what to make. I could always get another colour and make a scarf or perhaps make a hat. Who knows?
I mean I'd like to make something pretty and all that but I'm not sure with the amount of yarn I have I could make it stunning. Pfft. Decisions decisions.
I did see fabulous yarn on Etsy that is simply GLORIOUS! I HAVE to get it. But it'll have to happen on payday.
Le sigh....
It's the Chevron scarf! I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and get it going. I mean, if everyone else is doing it why can't I? I must admit, I was iffy with the yarn carrying, but once I got the hang of it, I wasn't sure why I was so apprehensive.
Anyway, here's the scarf. Love it like I do. Because I really, really do!
Also, remember back when I made a blanket for my cousin's new baby? Well, he sent me a pic of her on it and OMG SO CUTE!
Dead from the cute!
Finished it last night. I can't believe I made a sweater. Excuse the picture. It was late and I was still a weeee bit hungover. Alcohol is not as friendly to me as it used to be.
Then when I decided to work on it again, I went and finished the knitting part but then couldn't seem to be able to block it and then start the seaming. Since there was a bit to do what with the sides and the sleeves all open and flapping in the wind.
Finally, I had had it. I got sick of knowing that it was sitting in a bag somewhere yet to be finished so I blocked it and started my first real seaming job and I gotta say, it wasn't so bad and it doesn't look too shabby either.
Anyway, now I have to think about how to wash it when the time comes. I guess I'll have to hit the internet and find out what people do about hand knit sweaters. Hmmmm....
And to round out my insanity, I just bought a new pattern for a cardigan and I must say that I'm in love.
Now, the list of crap I'm making and will make in the coming months:
- Clara Tank for my mom for Xmas
- 9 to 5 socks for me
- Chevron scarf for me
- Hand in Hand pullover vest for my dad
- Sarah cabled sweater (it's so pretty, OMG LOOK!)
Now, I'm off to continue my mom's shirt. No rest for the knitter.
Remember the sweater I started back in June. Well, I finished knitting it but then let it sit around while I procrastinated finishing the damn thing. So, last night I finally laid it out to block it and then I'll seam it up. I did take pics along the way so here are some of it almost done.
So right now, it's spread out on the dining room table drying off and then I'll seam it up and hopefully it'll be all good.
Hmmmm, what else have I done? Let's see.
I made a scarf for my friend. He asked me to just get whatever yarn would be good so I did and I make it. I used Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in brown and used the A Scarf Askew pattern from Magnits. I think it turned out quite well.
I even sewed a label on it. I'm soooo crafty lol.
And now to share some other WIP. (Still here? I wouldn't be surprised if you up and left) Anyway, I'm working on the Chevron Scarf from Last Minute Knitted Gifts and the pattern is fun but it feels like it's taking long even though it's not. I think my problem is that I'm impatient and want it done RIGHT NOW!
Isn't it pretty? I love the colours although it's always a gamble trying to find 2 skeins that'll go well together. Fun times.
And because I'm a freak, I also have some socks on the go with a pattern I've been dying to try out. They're called the 9 - 5 socks. FUN!
Look at those colours! I mean really. How could one not fall in love? *le sigh*
Now that I've bombarded you with my knitting escapades, I'm off to actually work. Yes...work.
That's right. CHEATED!
I've been using Wordpress just to see if I liked it and while I do, I think I prefer Vox. So, I'm on my knees begging for your forgiveness.
Whatya say?
It's begun!! I finished the hat (which I'm not too fond of, btw) and I'll post pics of that later...perhaps. Anyway, I picked up the magazine, my yarn, needles and got started. Once I started, this is what I turned to find:
Yes, my kitty decided to take over the magazine and be one with the lovely knit items. Of course, I didn't disturb him so I let him be. That's when he got really comfortable...
Started a hat today for a friend and I'm almost finished the ribbing and THANK GOD! It's getting tiresome...like a lot!
Here's what it looks like so far...
Also, I GOT MY YARN TODAY! I'll cast on for my sweater tomorrow and I can't wait. Getting a box of 16 skeins of beautiful, soft, chocolatey coloured yarn was like Christmas for me. I actually hugged the box LOL!
Check out the loveliness
Yesterday I went to the doctor and he always takes forever to get to you so before I went I stopped at the LYS to get a skein of pink yarn to make a baby hat for my cousin who's pregnant.
$40 later...
I have 6 skeins of Mission Falls Wool (which was a GREAT deal at $20 for a bag of 6) and 1 Dale of Norway Baby Ull for the hat. Plus since I had forgotten my needles at home I had to buy another set of 5 size 2 needles. OY!
Then I get to the doctor and it's empty! I didn't even get one round going until I was called in.
So that puts my monthly total of yarn shopping $130. HELP ME!
